WK12021 Revision of D2000-06 Standard Classification System for Rubber Products in Automotive Applications
Active Standard: D2000-08
Developed by Subcommittee: D11.30

Date Initiated: 07-12-2006
1. Rationale
ASTM #2 and #3 Oil purchasable supplies have been depleated for over 10 years. IRM 902 and 903 have replaced them. IRM 901 oil has recently replaced ASTM #1 oil. D2000 will replace references to old oils in all areas except for one note stating that the old reference oils are no longer commercially available.
Two ways of indicating D1053 torsional stiffness suffix F2 and F6 within a line callout are shown in examples. F6 is an added suffix to cover special reporting of D1053 for applications such as rotating shaft seals.
Add a subsection as 7.3 stating that "unless a suffix requirementis used to override an existing basic requirement, the basic requirement applies." to be consistent with SAE J200.
Replaced Stauffer 7700/ SAE Fluid #2 with Hatco 7700. AMS 3021C is undergoing revision to change as well. This is a concurrent change with AMS, and will be proposed to SAE CARS J200 at Septembers meeting.
Suffix Table AA had a footnote for ozone resistance stating that "materials exist, but values have not yet been determined" for 2 grades. We previously eliminated these types of states since after 40 years materials have not be supplied for testing to determinve the values. This is also consistent with SAE J200. This was probably just missed in the last "go 'round."
